Fall Fitness and Wellness Focuses
Human Resources’ Fitness and Wellness Division wants to help you feel your best. Whether you’re looking for more energy, better nutrition, or a positive reset, their guided programs make it easy to take meaningful steps toward wellness one small change at a time. This year they are offering a refreshed lineup of programs designed to help you move with confidence, eat with purpose, and build healthy habits that last. While the specific opportunities will change quarterly, the initiative will encourage you to Move Well, Live Well, and Thrive Well throughout the year!
Move Well: Fall Wellness Walks
Fitness and Wellness is partnering with Recreation and Parks to give you the opportunity to network with coworkers while exploring Henrico’s beautiful parks and getting your steps in. These Saturday morning guided walks are open to the public and designed for all fitness levels. They offer a fun, low‑pressure way to boost physical activity while enjoying the outdoors.
Walks take place Saturdays at 8:00 AM:
- September 12 – Dorey Park, Recreation Center
- September 26 – Tuckahoe Creek Park, Shelter at Trailhead
- October 3 – Eastern Henrico Recreation Center
- October 24 – Crump Park, Parsons Center
- November 7 – Three Lakes Park, Nature Center
- November 14 – Taylor Farm Park, Shelter 3
Live Well: Full Plate Living Lunchtime Series
Full Plate Living is all about realistic, achievable changes to help you build a healthier lifestyle. This lunchtime series focuses on whole‑food nutrition and small steps that support better energy, reduced risk of chronic disease, and improved overall wellness. Bring your lunch and maybe a coworker and you’ll receive tools, support, and guidance to help you build a healthier lifestyle.

Start your week with short, uplifting micro-learning sessions designed to strengthen positive mental and physical habits. These 15- minute, virtual sessions are perfect for employees seeking quick, actionable tips to boost well‑being without adding pressure to their schedules.

Other ways to Connect and Move
In addition to their wellness initiatives, Fitness and Wellness coordinates Team Henrico events and offers a full weekly lineup of fitness classes at the Henrico Training Center.
The next Team Henrico event is the Allianz Richmond Marathon, CarMax 1/2 Marathon, & Richmond 8k on Saturday November 14. From early‑morning ABLE sessions to lunchtime Fit Plus and afternoon strength and conditioning options, there are opportunities throughout the week to get moving, build strength, and stay active. Classes change bi-monthly and are designed for a variety of fitness levels and interests, making it easy to find something that fits your goals and schedule.
Weekly Class Highlights (September–October 2026):
- Fitness Orientation is a prerequisite to using the gym facilities and equipment. Learn about the facilities, sign the required waivers, and ask any questions with your tour guide, Liz Stovall.
- Fit Plus with Ayse or Josh provides small‑group training with an emphasis on technique, motivation, and achieving personal fitness goals.
- ABLE with Josh it a great beginner class that focuses on functional movement and mobility.
- Weight Room Training with Ayse provides guided strength‑training using the equipment in the weight room.
- Step & Core and Step Fusion classes with Liz Stovall offer energetic options for employees seeking variety and challenge.
- Foundations and Move Strong with Joey support employees looking to build confidence and strength through fundamental movement.
- Pickleball with Ayse is a social, low-impact game for all ages and skill levels that is a popular lunchtime option.
- Restorative Yoga with Romy on Thursday evenings provides a grounding, stress‑relieving way to end the workday.
Please Note
Before utilizing gym equipment or taking a class, you must attend an orientation and complete the appropriate waiver(s). Employee participation in fitness programming is voluntary and must be done on personal time. Employees should discuss leave use with their supervisor before attending classes. Fire and Police personnel should check with their division’s Personnel Office for guidance. COD3 FIT is reserved for sworn Public Safety employees only. Classes may be held outside or in the hallway depending on gym availability. No personal trainers or guests are permitted in any of the Training Center Fitness facilities.
