Back to School with OLTD: Learn, Lead, Grow
September means back to school, and you are never too old to learn! The Organizational Learning and Talent Development (OLTD) Division of Human Resources offers a variety of classes to help your personal and professional development. They offer various topics curated to align with Henrico’s Capability Model. The new calendar was released in July and features 59 offerings including some popular favorites and a few new classes featured below. Be sure to browse the catalog and sign up early!
How To Register:
- To register for a class or classes, please log in to HRMS.

- If you do not see the Learner Home icon, click on the hamburger menu in the top left, select Employee Direct Access > Learning > Learner Home.
- Click “Course Catalog” then “Human Resources”
- Selecting “Outreach and Engagement” on the Course Catalog screen. Will show you the classes offered by Outreach and Engagement. (You can enroll in their classes using the following instructions as well.)

- “Management” classes are only available to supervisors
- Choose the course name and then click the course or offering name again on the next screen.
- You should see all the dates and times the class will be offered this fiscal year. Click the suitcase under “Enroll” on the far right to enroll in the class.
- Once you have confirmed the class information, click Apply.
Tips and Best Practices:
- Check your emails or HRMS for information about your enrollment status! You will receive various emails about the class(es) you have enrolled in, but read the language carefully to ensure you understand the different statuses:
- “Waiting for Selections” status means OLTD has received your request to attend the class but has not yet assigned participants. (Selections happen a month before the class date.)
- “Confirmed” status means you have a seat in the class and have been added to the sign-in sheet.
- “Waitlisted” status means selections have been made, but there was not enough space to accommodate your request. OLTD does fill seats using the waitlist if any become available in the class. This may happen as late as 24 hours before the scheduled class.
- Sign up for multiple classes! If a class has multiple offerings, sign up for all of them! You may not make the selection process the first time, but priority is given to those that were previously waitlisted. Also, signing up for a variety of classes increases your changes of getting a seat.
- Mark your calendars! We strongly recommend signing up for classes early and blocking the time off on your calendar. This helps ensure your attendance!
- Cancel your enrollment as soon as you know you cannot make the class. Most classes have waitlists and cancelling your enrollment allows other employees to attend.
- Check out the Learning Opportunities page for answers to other frequently asked questions!
