Open Enrollment for 2027 Benefits
Open Enrollment – your once-a-year chance to take charge of your benefits – is almost here! Open Enrollment 2027 Dates: Saturday, October 3, 2026 – Friday, October 30, 2026, at 4:30pm.
Whether you’re sticking with what you have or exploring fresh options, we’ve lined up educational resources, a variety of live events, and personalized support to make the process simple and straightforward.
During this window, you’ll be able to:
- Enroll in or make changes to your health, dental, and short-term income protection (STIP) plans.
- If you are a VRS Hybrid Plan Member, you are automatically enrolled in the Hybrid Disability Plan once you have been employed with Henrico County for one (1) year. You are not eligible to change your STIP election during Open Enrollment.
- Choose from a range of voluntary benefits through our third-party administrator, Pierce Insurance.
- Re-enroll in your Flexible Spending Account (FSA), which must be re-elected each year during Open Enrollment. Up to $660 will carryover from your 2026 healthcare FSA into 2027.
In case you missed it, be sure to read the recent Open Enrollment General Notice from our HR Director, Yvette George.
What’s New This Year
As you review your benefit options, we want to make sure you’re aware of what’s changing. Below is a summary of the key updates to the benefit packages for the coming year.
- Medical: The High-Deductible Health Plan deductible is increasing for CY2027 – from $3,400 to $3,500 (individual) and $6,800 to $7,000 (family). There are no other plan design changes. Rates are increasing slightly.
- Double Contribution: Contribution rates for the cardholder are increasing. There will no longer be a separate deduction for the non-cardholder under the Premier POS family coverage tier.
- Dental: No plan design changes. Rates are increasing slightly.
- Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): The Health Care FSA maximum is increasing to $3,400, with a rollover of up to $680 into 2028. The Dependent Care FSA maximum remains $7,500.
- Health Savings Accounts (HSA): HSA contribution maximums are increasing to the 2027 IRS limit. The self-only contribution limit will be $4,500 and the family contribution limit will be $9,000.
- Maven: Starting January 1, 2027, we’re rolling out Maven for our Anthem plan members, a virtual clinic focused on women’s and family health. Maven connects employees to specialized virtual care and support across fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, parenting, and menopause – helping members navigate these stages with expert guidance at no additional cost.
