Henrico 4-H Farm Graze will offer a free, family-friendly event Saturday, March 21 to celebrate agriculture and community, with live farm animals and hands-on educational activities.
Henrico 4-H Farm Graze will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at Deep Run Park and Recreation Center, 9900 Ridgefield Parkway. Organized by Henrico 4-H Youth Development, the event will offer attendees a chance to see up close – and in some cases touch – chicks, rabbits, horses, goats, snakes and bees. The event, which is back for a third year after a two-year break, aims to highlight the importance of agriculture and the critical roles that animals, food and nature play. Henrico 4-H and more than 20 local partners will be on hand to highlight their programs.
Local honey will be available for purchase to benefit 4-H programs. Donated items will be collected on behalf of the Henrico Police Animal Shelter. The shelter’s needs include canned food for dogs; dry and canned food as well as formula for kittens; peanut butter, Gerber baby food (turkey, beef, chicken varieties); new or gently used towels and blankets; wire crates, particularly medium and large sizes; and carriers for cats.
