Retiree Open Enrollment for 2025 Benefits

The Retiree Open Enrollment Period for 2025 benefits is Friday, November 1, 2024, through Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Changes will be effective January 1, 2025.

Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to enroll or change your coverage and add or drop dependents for your health and/or dental plans. The only other time you are able to make changes to your benefits is when you experience a qualifying event.

There will be no Retiree Open Enrollment Sessions this year. If you have questions, please contact the Benefits Office at [email protected] or call 804-501-7371.

2025 Healthcare for Pre-65 Retirees

Pre-65 enrollees will receive new Anthem insurance cards to use, effective January 1, 2025.

Note: There will be a small plan design change for those enrolled in the Premier POS and Standard POS plans. The emergency room copay will increase from $150 to $250 (still waived if admitted).

2025 Healthcare for 65+ Retirees

The Medicare Open Enrollment period is from October 15 through December 7, 2024, for coverage effective January 1, 2025.

By October, you should have received the Fall Newsletter from ViaBenefits with information about Medicare’s Open Enrollment. ViaBenefits sends their fall newsletter to enrolled Medicare eligible retirees by email (if you provided a valid email address and did not opt out of receiving emails) or by U.S. Mail. These newsletters are sent to enrolled retirees in late August.

We want to remind you that to re-evaluate or change your plan choices, you must contact Via Benefits during the Medicare Open Enrollment period. The Via Benefits number is 1+844-256-0914.

You may want to review your plans if:

  • Your prescriptions have changed during this year, and you want to see if there is a Part D Prescription Drug Plan available in 2025 that better meets your needs.
  • You have moved during the year to a new ZIP code.
  • You want to compare 2025 premiums of comparable plans.

Retirees must continue their own coverage through the County sponsored vendor (ViaBenefits) for their pre-65 dependents to be eligible for coverage on Henrico County’s Anthem plan.
