October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 

The Henrico County Police Division is hosting two educational information sessions about Domestic Violence this month called “I’m Asking, For a Friend…” These are opportunity to learn more about the resources available to domestic violence survivors within Henrico County. You will also have the chance to hear from officers about some of the signs and symptoms of abuse. This is a safe space for attendees which will emphasize the importance of addressing this issue without stigma or pressure.

  • Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Fairfield Area Library (1404 N. Laburnum Avenue, Henrico, VA 23223).
  • Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the North Park Branch Library (8508 Franconia Road, Henrico, VA 23227)
 
The Commonwealth Attorney’s Office is hosting an event featuring a discussion panel by domestic violence survivors survivors on a discussion panel about domestic violence.  Learn about domestic violence from people who endured and survived. They will also be unveiling “To Another Me,” a collection of letters by domestic violence survivors.  These survivors offer advice and wisdom to others experiencing domestic violence. They share what they have learned  through their personal experiences. They will also be recognizing outstanding dedication and service to domestic violence victims. 
  • Thursday, October 23, 2025, starting at 6 p.m. at Board of Supervisors Meeting Room, Administrative Building (4301 E Parham Road, Henrico VA 23228)

2025 Henrico Christmas Mother Campaign

Our 2025 Henrico Christmas Mother Campaign has officially kicked off. We are excited to introduce the 2025 Henrico Christmas Mother, Ann McGee, who has shared with our coordinators some specific needs this year like peanut butter, cereal and various items for our seniors and disabled.

Events Scheduled So Far:

  • Sheriff – Boo-a-Friend:  Now – Oct. 17 ($3 each)
  • General Services Campfire Social: Tuesday, Oct. 21st, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Admin Courtyard Fountain
  • Building Inspections – Octoberfest:  Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Admin Courtyard Fountain ($5/brat)
  • Circuit Court Clerk Bake Sale & Silent Auction:  Friday, Oct. 24, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in Cafe 1611
  • Planning Pumpkin Decorating Contest: Friday, Oct. 31, from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Western Gov’t Center, Cafe 1611 ($5 entry, various prizes)
  • Public Utilities Homemade Soup Sale: Friday, Nov. 7th from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Public Utilities Conference Room
  • Community Revitalization BBQ Sale: Friday, Nov. 7th from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Building Inspections Conference Room (while supplies last)
  • Finance BBQ & Chili Bowl: Wednesday, November 12th from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Café 1611
  • County Manager & County Attorney Bake & BBQ Sale: Monday, Nov. 24th, from 9 – 11 a.m. (Bake Sale) and 11 a.m. – gone (BBQ Sale) in the County Manager Kitchen (3rd Floor)
  • Finance Bake Sale and Cookie Celebration: Wednesday, December 3rd from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Café 1611

Open Enrollment for 2026 Benefits

Open Enrollment begins October 4th! There are some changes this year so please be sure to keep an eye on your email and view the information on the Open Enrollment webpage. All changes must be submitted by 4:30 pm on Friday, October 31st.
