Retiree Open Enrollment for 2027 Benefits

The Retiree Open Enrollment Period for 2026 benefits is Monday, November 2, 2026, through Wednesday, November 25, 2026. Changes will be effective January 1, 2027.

Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to enroll or change your coverage and add or drop dependents for your health and/or dental plans. The only other time you are able to make changes to your benefits is when you experience a qualifying event.

If you have questions, please contact the Benefits Office at [email protected], call 804-501-7371, or utilize the following link to schedule a meeting with our Retiree Benefits Administrator: Book time with Sarah Landes: Benefit Q & A

2026 Retiree Health Care 65+

The Medicare Open Enrollment period is from October 15 through December 7, 2026, for coverage effective January 1, 2027.

You should have received the Fall Newsletter from Via Benefits with information about Medicare’s Open Enrollment. Via Benefits sends their fall newsletter to enrolled Medicare eligible retirees by email (if you provided a valid email address and did not opt out of receiving emails) or by U.S. Mail. These newsletters are sent to enrolled retirees in late August.

We want to remind you that to re-evaluate or change your plan choices, you must contact Via Benefits during the Medicare Open Enrollment period. The Via Benefits number is 1+844-256-0914.

You may want to review your plans if:

  • Your prescriptions have changed during this year, and you want to see if there is a Part D Prescription Drug Plan available in 2026 that better meets your needs.
  • You have moved during the year to a new ZIP code.
  • You want to compare 2027 premiums of comparable plans.

2027 Medicare Part D Update: Wellcare Plans

  • Beginning in 2027, Wellcare Part D plans can no longer be selected through Via Benefits.
  • Already enrolled in Wellcare? Your coverage will continue. You don’t need to do anything or re-enroll through Medicare.gov.
  • Want to switch to Wellcare? Enroll directly at Medicare.gov.
  • Via Benefits Advisors can still help you review your options and guide you through enrolling on Medicare.gov. You can schedule a call with Via Benefits by visiting their website.

Retirees must continue their own coverage through the County sponsored vendor (Via Benefits) for their pre-65 dependents to be eligible for coverage on Henrico County’s Anthem plan.

Via Benefits Important Dates & Reminders:
