Henrico County Recreation and Parks is thrilled to invite you to our 2-day Juneteenth Celebration!
Friday, June 20: Juneteenth Jamboree
Community Parade & 7v7 Football
Saturday, June 21: Juneteenth Event
Vendor Fair, Kids Zone, Live Entertainment, Fireworks
On Saturday, June 21 we will commemorate the 160th anniversary of Juneteenth and the powerful celebration of freedom.
We will have a vendor fair featuring 160 local vendors, a kids zone with thrilling inflatables, a vibrant community stage showcasing local talent, and a variety of delicious food. And that’s not all – this year’s musical theme is Go-Go music, a uniquely regional sound that’s deeply rooted in the African American community, symbolizing resilience and unity. Originally from Washington, D.C., Go-Go has become a beloved genre across the DMV area, including right here in Henrico County!
To kick things off, we’ve got the incredible Go-Go legends EU featuring Sugar Bear, plus the iconic Chuck Brown Band—with Chuck’s Brown’s son Wiley Brown leading the band in tribute to the Godfather of Go-Go. As the grand finale, we’re thrilled to welcome back Art of Noise, featuring DJ Lonnie B., plus an epic firework show to light up the night. It’s going to be a high-energy, unforgettable experience!
The entire Juneteenth Celebration is FREE and open to the public. Come out, enjoy the fun, and celebrate with us!

Juneteenth celebrates enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation reaching the westernmost Confederate state of Texas. The Proclamation went into effect in 1863, but this news was purposefully withheld from enslaved people until the arrival of Union troops in Galveston Bay, Texas on June 19, 1865. Juneteenth marks our country’s second independence day.
First flown in 2000, the Juneteenth flag was designed by Ben Haith, founder of the National Juneteenth Celebration.
