Juneteenth Jamboree
On Friday, June 20, we will host our first-ever Juneteenth Jamboree, and you won’t want to miss it! Starting at 5 pm, we’ll kick off a community parade at Baker Elementary School and wrap up at Varina High School. The parade will feature around 50 incredible local businesses and organizations.
But that’s not all! Following the parade, from 6:30-9pm, we’ll have an epic 7v7 football showdown announced by Shawn Mears. The competition will be between Henrico County’s very own high schools: Varina, Highland Springs, J.R. Tucker, Glen Allen, Deep Run, and Henrico! DJ Amare will be on the ones and twos, keeping the vibes going strong. Plus, we’ll have food trucks serving up delicious bites for you to enjoy.
We can’t wait to celebrate and share this unforgettable day with you. See you there!
For any questions, don’t hesitate to give us a call at (804) 652-1421 or email [email protected].

Each spectator will be allowed to bring in the following:

Individuals ages 17 & under must be accompanied by a chaperone over 21. IDs are required.
History of Juneteenth

Juneteenth celebrates enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation reaching the westernmost Confederate state of Texas. The Proclamation went into effect in 1863, but this news was purposefully withheld from enslaved people until the arrival of Union troops in Galveston Bay, Texas on June 19, 1865. Juneteenth marks our country’s second independence day.
First flown in 2000, the Juneteenth flag was designed by Ben Haith, founder of the National Juneteenth Celebration.
