Horton. \nHome builders and developers are also welcome to attend to learn more about incentives Henrico can offer for-profit and nonprofit builders to develop quality\, affordable housing in the county.

DESCRIPTION:The Henrico County Police Division in collaboration with Henrico County Recreation & Parks will host a Child Safety Seat Check-Up event on Wednesday\, Sept. 23\, 2026\, from 9 a.m. to noon at Deep Run Recreation Center (9900 Ridgefield Parkway\, Richmond\, VA 23233) as part of Child Passenger Safety Week. \nWHO\nThis FREE event is an opportunity for Richmond metro-area residents to make sure their child’s car seat/booster seat is installed properly. The event will include a variety of vendors highlighting children’s safety\, children’s activities\, and giveaways! \nFACTS\nAccording to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)\, while most parents and caregivers are confident that they have correctly installed their child’s car seat\, almost half (46%) have been installed incorrectly. A properly used/installed car seat can reduce the risk of death for your child by 71%. \nWHAT TO BRING\nIf you plan to attend the event\, please bring the following items/individuals\, if possible: \n\nThe seats with accompanying manuals\n\n\nChild(ren) who will be using the seats\, if possible\n\n\nAny caregivers (ie. family members\, nannies/sitters) who transport the child(ren) in the seats so everyone can be helped and educated on proper use\n\nThis event is currently scheduled rain or shine. In the event of severe inclement weather\, the event will be postponed to a later date. \nMORE INFORMATION\nIn the event there is a large number of vehicles waiting for the check-up\, Henrico Police does offer Child Safety Seat Check-Ups by appointment. An online form can be filled out and one of our Child Passenger Safety Technicians will work to schedule an appointment with you. \nIf you have further questions about this event\, you can email police@henrico.gov. \nLearn more about finding the right car seat or booster seat for your child.

The event\, which is back for a third year after a two-year break\, aims to highlight the importance of agriculture and the critical roles that animals\, food and nature play. Henrico 4-H and more than 20 local partners will be on hand to highlight their programs.\n \nLocal honey will be available for purchase to benefit 4-H programs. Donated items will be collected on behalf of the Henrico Police Animal Shelter. The shelter’s needs include canned food for dogs; dry and canned food as well as formula for kittens; peanut butter\, Gerber baby food (turkey\, beef\, chicken varieties); new or gently used towels and blankets; wire crates\, particularly medium and large sizes; and carriers for cats.

The event will be held on Saturday\, Oct. 11 at 9 a.m. (the race will start at 9:30 a.m.) at Deep Run Park\, 9900 Ridgefield Parkway. \nRegistration is $35 per person and all proceeds benefit the current participants and alumni of the Henrico County Adult Recovery Court in support of sober activities\, graduation celebrations and family days.  \nA T-shirt is included with each registration. Use coupon code RECOVERY for $10 off each registration during the month of September. \nThe event is named for our previous administrator\, Bernard L. Greene\, Jr.\, who passed away March 7\, 2019. Mr. Greene touched the hearts of many people and helped others change their lives for the better. He enjoyed running\, cycling\, and spending time outdoors. We will forever hold Bernard in our hearts for all he has done for the community and the Henrico County Recovery Court.  \nThis event will feature a prize raffle of a week’s stay in Nags Head\, NC.
