Be inspired and entertained by the military’s finest musicians as The Jazz Ambassadors share the meaning behind the motto\, “This We’ll Defend.” \nA student jazz ensemble from VCUarts Department of Music will open the concert with a short performance. The 17-piece VCU Jazz Orchestra has a long reputation as one of the finest jazz ensembles in the region. Come hear these amazing\, young artists play swinging classics from Duke Ellington\, Benny Goodman\, and masterpieces by today’s most forward-looking composers! \nFree admission! Doors open at 6 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:Join Capital Trees and Henrico County Parks and Recreation for a Volunteer Community Tree Planting! \nVolunteer Duties\nVolunteers will help plant 20 trees at Springfield Park\, increasing Henrico’s tree canopy and enhancing biodiversity in the park. Volunteers will assist with removing burlap casings\, placing trees\, and filling in mulch rings with the help of Capital Trees and Henrico County leaders. No experience necessary; this is a great chance to learn best practices for your own home! \nRequirements\nNo gardening experience necessary\, but ideally volunteers should be ready to: \n\nBend\, squat\, kneel\, and /or stand for extended periods\nLift up to 20lbs\nUse hand tools such as: trowel\, shovel\, etc\nBe comfortable working outside\nPlease bring a refillable water bottle\nClosed-toed\, sturdy shoes\nAll other materials\, including gloves\, will be provided.
