Laburnum Ave) and Frank J. Thornton YMCA Aquatic Center. \nThis is an opportunity to learn about the resources available in Henrico County and tips for water safety\, whether in a pool\, lake or river. \nIn 2025\, Henrico County experienced several drownings of children. Public safety personnel came together to create the “Splash Smart Henrico!” initiative which is focused on educating our community members about water safety and the resources available in the area. \nWHAT TO EXPECT\n\nSwim safety resources/vendors in Henrico County;\nCPR demonstrations (11 a.m.\, 11:30 a.m.\, 12 p.m.\, 12:30 p.m.)\nLife jacket fittings for children;\nSafety Around Water Stations (12 p.m.) provided by the YMCA of Greater Richmond at the Frank J. Thornton Aquatic Center\nPrize giveaways\, food trucks\, splash pad & family fun!\n\nWHAT TO BRING\nChildren are encouraged to wear their swimsuits in order to take part in the “Safety Around Water” demonstration and for use of the splash pad. \nThis event is rain or shine.
