The event will include a variety of vendors highlighting children’s safety\, children’s activities\, and giveaways! \nFACTS\nAccording to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)\, while most parents and caregivers are confident that they have correctly installed their child’s car seat\, almost half (46%) have been installed incorrectly. A properly used/installed car seat can reduce the risk of death for your child by 71%. \nWHAT TO BRING\nIf you plan to attend the event\, please bring the following items/individuals\, if possible: \n\nThe seats with accompanying manuals\n\n\nChild(ren) who will be using the seats\, if possible\n\n\nAny caregivers (ie. family members\, nannies/sitters) who transport the child(ren) in the seats so everyone can be helped and educated on proper use\n\nThis event is currently scheduled rain or shine. DESCRIPTION:The Henrico Bug Bizarre\, a community festival celebrating the joy and excitement of entomology\, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday\, Oct. 10 at the Deep Run Recreation Center\, 9900 Ridgefield Parkway. \nThe free event will feature live insects and other insect-related displays\, including hissing cockroaches\, tarantulas and a “bug zoo.” Experts will share information on a variety of subjects\, including pollinators\, garden insects\, forest pests and public health. All ages are welcome and the event will offer children’s activities. \nThe Henrico Bug Bizarre is being organized by the Henrico County Department of Public Works.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Henrico County Specialty Dockets for the annual Bernard Greene Memorial 5k. The event will be held on Saturday\, Oct. 17\, at 9 a.m. (the race will start at 9:30 a.m.) at Deep Run Park\, 9900 Ridgefield Parkway\, Henrico\, VA 23233.  \nRegistration is $40 per person\, and all proceeds benefit the current participants and alumni of specialty dockets in support of sober activities\, graduation celebrations and family days. \nA T-shirt is included with each registration. Check your email for a discount code. \nThe event is named in memory of the Recovery Court’s previous administrator\, Bernard L. Greene\, Jr.\, who passed away March 7\, 2019. Mr. Greene touched the hearts of many people and helped others change their lives for the better. He enjoyed running\, cycling and spending time outdoors. We will forever hold Bernard in our hearts for all he has done for the community and the Henrico County Recovery Court.  \nThis event will feature a prize raffle for a week’s stay in Nags Head\, NC. SUMMARY:Fall 2026 Rabies Clinic
DESCRIPTION:The Henrico County Police Animal Protection Unit will hold its Fall Rabies Clinic on Oct. 17\, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Western Henrico Government Center (4301 E. Parham Road). \nRabies vaccinations are $20 each\, cash only! Cats must be in carriers. Pets from all localities are welcome. \nRegistration and payment are done first inside the Administration building in the Cashier’s Office. You will then proceed to veterinarian on the first level of the parking deck adjacent to the Administration Building. \nHenrico County dog licenses will also be available. The lifetime license fee is $10. The license is for the life of the dog and is valid as long as the dog’s owner resides in the County and the dog’s rabies vaccination is kept current. The license is void if the dog does not receive a rabies vaccination within 30 days of the expiration of the dog’s current rabies vaccination. \nContact the Henrico Police Animal Shelter at 804-727-8801 (open Monday-Saturday\, 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.) with any further questions.
