SUMMARY:Statewide Tornado Drill
DESCRIPTION:A statewide tornado drill will be conducted on Tuesday\, March 11th\, at 9:45 AM. Please take this time to ensure you’re familiar with your designated shelter locations\, and participate in the drill and follow the actions listed below: \n\nReview shelter location(s) in your work area (interior room\, no windows\, away from things that can fall like bookshelves\, etc.).\nTune into NOAA Weather Radio to listen for the broadcast. Make sure your radio is on by 9:40 AM. When you hear the alert\, begin your tornado drill at 9:45 AM. If you do not have a NOAA Weather Radio\, simply start your drill\, and enact your safety plan at 9:45 AM.\nThere will be no follow-up statements to mark the end of the statewide tornado drill. It will simply end when you feel that you have adequately practiced your tornado shelter procedures.\n\nNote: If there is actual severe weather occurring on the morning of March 11\, 2025\, the statewide tornado drill will be postponed.  The alternate date for the drill is Thursday\, March 13\, 2025\, at 9:45 AM EST.

SUMMARY:Difficult Conversations: A Caregiver Speaker Series
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Fairfield Library at 1401 N. Laburnum Ave on Tuesday March 4th\, March 11th\, and March 18th as we tackle challenging topics for caregivers supporting older adults in Henrico. We will end the series with a Senior & Caregiver Expo on Tuesday\, March 25th at Eastern Henrico Recreation Center to learn about resources to assist older adults in our community. \nTuesday\, March 4th\, 6 pm-7 pm Dementia 101: A representative from the Alzheimer’s Association will share information about the stages of dementia\, resources for caregivers\, and take questions from community members. \nTuesday\, March 11th\, 6 pm-7 pm Supporting Your Loved One as Their Abilities Change: Lisa Isbell with Senior Care Authority of Central Virginia will share resources for individuals with varying levels of need and tips for recognizing changes in need and having difficult conversations about care. \nTuesday\, March 18th\, 6 pm-7 pm End of Life: A Representative from Crater Community Hospice will help caregivers understand the difference between hospice and palliative care\, and provide techniques for conversing about end-of-life with loved ones. \nContact the Advocate for the Aging with any questions or to learn more about the event at agingadvocate@henrico.gov or 804-501-5065. \n  \nDifficult Conversation Series
